Oh My, I Have An Almost 8 Year Old!!!

I am too young to have an 8-year-old. I just am, but they tell me that tomorrow, I will have an 8-year-old. It was just yesterday that she surprised us by making her entrance a little earlier than any of us had anticipated and here she is turning 8. In 8 more years, she'll be wanting to drive - in a car - by herself. And in another 8 years, she should be a college graduate. She could be married!! But there better not be any babies by then... I am getting ahead of myself. Let's focus on 8.

Yesterday we partied for her. She was not-so-patiently waiting on company to arrive. Harrison hadn't quite figured out that this wasn't all about him yet.

I convinced Jillian that she didn't need a birthday cake this year. She doesn't eat it. She eats the one piece at her party and then she is done. I told her I would make two of her favorite desserts instead. She chose this cream cheese/crescent roll thing I make and a chocolate chip cheese ball. We had chicken spaghetti, salad, and rolls (plus chicken nuggets for the kiddos).

There is always much fun and excitement and usually a few tears when the kids get going on the trampoline. And we had all of that. The net took a hit at Harrison's birthday party and it was just demolished yesterday. We will be ordering a new one this week.

What does Daddy do when Harrison falls off of the back porch? Takes his picture.

She got some pretty birthstone earrings since she recently had her ears pierced. I tried to convince her that I would wear them for the next 5 weeks, since she can't change hers anyway. She did not get on board with that.

My sisters and my parents went together to get her an American Girl doll. She had said she wanted one and her mother had said she wasn't spending that much on a doll. The aunts and uncles plus grandparents came through for her on this one. Her excitement is quite evident.

Look at my sweet nephews laying there being so good. I am sure they were bored out of their minds with the earrings and dolls, but they were being really good!!

Jilly and her doll.

Another birthday party down. Tonight we are having a friend spend the night. Tomorrow I will take Jillian and her friend to Chuck-E Cheese for lunch and games. It should be another big day. I cannot believe my baby girl is about to 8. I need for all this to slow down or I am going to be old - SOON!
