We attended a birthday party today at a local skating rink. All of us got to go because it started at noon. It was Jillian's second birthday party to go to at this place, and she has thoroughly enjoyed herself at both of them.
For starters...they so did not have these little helping devices when I was growing up. She always starts out using one of these things but eventually decides to wing it.

What happens when she wings it...

They also didn't have these little scooter things when I was little. The kids just have a blast with these things. Nathan did say it was a lot of work, though, so that might explain why the kiddos don't stay on them the entire time.

Little Man wasn't quite sure what to think about all this. There was music and crazy lighting. And Jillian and Daddy would coast by over and over again. He did a lot of watching and pointing.

Jillian and Daddy (although she didn't know he was right there - and neither did I until after I had taken the picture)

A little skating tutorial from Dad

At least they had fun

Somehow I always bring the biggest kid with me.

How is this for some 3-D action! Harrison got to get in his first ball pit. He liked it, of course! There were balls everywhere. What is not to love for a little boy?

J seemed to really enjoy the ball pit, too. She was more mobile, of course, and she thought sinking down into it was great!

Sharing is easy - when it is done on my terms. But don't ask me to share when it is someone else's terms because you"ll see that ol' sin nature rear its ugly head.

You would have thought that both of the kids would have been super tired after all their playing. Jillian seemed unphased and Harrison refused to take an afternoon nap. He stayed in the bed for normal nap hours but he talked and jabbered the entire time. Crazy baby. Tonight he fell asleep in the car on the way home. I carried him in, changed his diaper, put his pajamas on him, put him in the bed, and packed his bag and he never knew any of that was happening. His no-nap afternoon had finally caught up with him.
On a different note...our turtles have been moving around for a couple of days. Nathan went out today to give them some fresh water and clean up their little turtle home. He found a little surpise - babies! We have at least 3 baby turtles now. They are so cute and tiny - about the size of a quarter. I will post some pictures of them later.
