Memorial Day Weekend
As is our usual tradition, we have spent the first 2/3 of Memorial Day weekend with Nathan's mom's side of the family at their reunion. We always have a good time, and it is great to see those folks we usually see just once a year. We go to Brentwood Park on Saturday. Jillian and the other kids like to play in the water. On Sunday we go to Nathan's parents' for homemade ice cream.

I couldn't report on the weekend without describing a little excitement. As we were eating Saturday night at the park, some police showed up. Nathan said there were 3: one West Fork cop, one Greenland cop, and a Washington county deputy. We couldn't figure out why they were there. Come to find out, someone had called 911 from the pay phone there. After asking a few questions, it became apparent that it was one of the children. You guessed it. It was my child. She said it was another kid's idea but she is the one that did it. All of the kids got talked to by the policeman. I am sure he was talking about when you actually call 911. By this point (we adults were watching at a distance), I just knew in my heart that Jillian was the guilty party. I went over and said "Why did you do that?" She said, "I didn't think it would work since we didn't have any money." How about that?! We dropped the ball and failed to explain how phones and 911 works. Somebody asked if Jillian was grounded for life. We said it was hard to ground her when her parents had obviously not done their job. Plus I think getting talked to by a guy in uniform was a little scary to her. She said it was and I said, "Good!" I am hoping it will be her last long conversation with a police officer that is brought about by her wrongdoing :)!
