We are in the midst of the week long celebration of the birth of our daughter. She had her first birthday shindig on Friday when she invited 5! girls over for a sleepover. Y'all, I am not built for that kind of thing. But I am a gamer, so we had all the girls come home with Jillian from school on Friday. They played outside, ate pizza, went to see Big Hero 6, and had some snacks. They all slept on the playroom floor and made messes like you could not believe. I felt like I was constantly picking up thrash or crumbs from their trail. We got donuts for breakfast and then they spent the morning outside until their parents came to get them.
Folks, I love my kid. And her friends aren't bad. But I am thrilled that this is something I only have to do once a year. I put on my happy face and try not to let "Teacher Erin" come out very much, but I can only take so much. So while I am glad she got to have a birthday sleepover, I am happier that I can say It is Finished!
On an unrelated note, H did not have mumps. Just some mystery virus which got better and went away all on its own. Just in case you were wondering.
