I have chosen this title because that song, while it sounds like it would be so "happy", is often presented in the most depressing way. Television shows and movies across time play that to illustrate that some people are alone. Some people are sad. Some people are happy. Some people are coping. And this year Christmas will take on a little of all of that for us. This year as been difficult at times. Impossible at others. Joyous some days. Contented on others.
This year people I love with all my heart will be hurting. The kind of hurt that can't be measured in words or phrases. They will put on their smiles and "happy faces" but their hearts will be breaking - again. For this will be, as another song says, a different kind of Christmas.
I do wish that "from now on our troubles will be far away." I hope we will all be reminded that because we couldn't get to Jesus, Jesus came to us. He humbled himself and took on the form of a man. Knowing what it meant. Knowing the end of the story, He made a choice. A choice to love above all else. A choice that meant we could be reconciled. I have said it before. Jesus came to earth a baby and became the Savior of the world. I pray that we will remember that this Christmas. When we are smiling through our pain, remember Jesus. When we are hurting in our hearts, remember Jesus. When we are struggling, remember Jesus.
And I hope that you have yourself a merry little Christmas!
