Harrison had his 2 week appointment today. The good news is - he appears to be healthy on almost every level. The bad news - he only weighed 7 lb 11 oz. That makes him about 12 ounces less than his birth weight. The doctor was not overly concerned. He just wanted me to bring Harrison back mid-week next week for a weight check and said he would see me when he was 2 months old. Harrison is peeing and pooping. He cries real tears. The doctor commented that he was not dehydrated in any way. I was not really prepared for him to have not gained weight. He has been eating and sleeping well, so I just assumed he would have gained a few ounces - at the very least.
I had decided yesterday that if the weight thing was not good today, I would give up nursing and just give him a bottle. At least that way I would know how much he was eating. I have backed off that a little. I am going to give it until Wednesday - which is when we go for the weight check - to make that decision. If it is still low, we will probably switch to the bottle. I don't deal with this kind of stress. We went through the same thing with Jillian and I didn't cope well then. It just goes to show you that 7 years may change a lot, but it doesn't change how I deal with the stress of my child not progressing as they should! So we are hoping that Little One puts on some weight and becomes a little chunkier between now and next week. Harrison needs it - and Mama needs it, too.

We had the same problem with Sam, and I don't know if you are up to it, but I ended up pumping and giving him the breastmilk in the bottle. We started this around a week old because he would not nurse, so he was losing weight and his jaundice was getting worse. Now he is the chunkiest baby EVER! And it took him a whopping 1 week to get there.
I will say after a little while, I got used to pumping all the time. It almost became second nature. And... I looked forward to it at points because I knew that was time to myself for at least 15 minutes. LOL
