And here is the whole story (my apologies to those of you who already know the story or who lived through the story for the repetition). We arrived at the hospital Thursday at 5:30. The doctor came in before 7 (6:45ish) and broke my water. My contractions started up but nothing too bad. Eventually - I am not sure of the time - they gave me the pitocin to make things really start happening. And then I got the epidural!! That was great but not as good as the one with Jillian had been. I was still having a pain in my tummy and left side. When the nurse came in about 30 minutes later I was between a 5 and 6. My pain got more focused on my left side and wasn't going away - even with meds. So the nurse came in about 15 minutes and checked me again. I was between 6 and 7. The pain never really went away and got worse the further we went. I was really hurting and the nurses couldn't really get it fixed. I suppose that is what that they call a "hot spot." When they checked me again, the nurse said, "Well, there is a reason why you are hurting so bad." I asked if I was ready to have a baby, and she said I was. I pushed one time and she called the doctor and said he needed to get there because baby was crowning. He got there quickly, as his office is just one floor above. In about 20 minutes, the baby was born. When the doctor said it was boy, Nathan and I just looked at each other. We were shocked. Thrilled, overjoyed, dumbfounded, and relieved to have him here.
