Or Any One of the Whos...

I wanted one last picture of me in a pregnant state, so Thursday morning, dark and early, Nathan took a couple before we left the house. Here I am at 41 weeks and 1 day! Today after I got out of the shower I told my mom I had figured out what I looked like. I told her I looked like a Dr. Seuss character now. She laughed. I reminded her that they are all big around the middle but it is low on the middle. I believe I said, "I am the Cat in the Hat or the Grinch, or any one of the Whos down in Whoville." She laughed harder.

Life here with the Mills has been pretty laid back and yet not exactly restful for the last few days. Harrison basically stopped nursing on Saturday. I mean would not eat for anything. He would arch his back and push away from me. So we struggled with that over the weekend. I ended up giving him a bottle because I couldn't stand the thought of him starving. I did see the lactation consultant yesterday and she was very helpful. He has been nursing since.

He is having a little (that is understatement to end all understatements) trouble during the night. He seems to go down really well after his last evening feeding. He sleeps for 3 or 4 hours and we get some quiet time or sleep time. But when he wakes up for that first feeding, he will not go back down. And he does not stay up quietly. He screams and cries and wails. That has been lasting from about 2 until 7. My mom has been here the last couple of nights, so she has helped. But Mr. Harrison and I are going to have to go to an agreement - and quick! I cannot - and I assume that few normal, healthy people could either - continue to be awake that long during the night and function during the day. We are hopeful for a better night tonight to get a new, improved pattern developed.

Have you read "The Happiest Baby on the Block?" If you haven't OMG! LIFE-SAVER! Sam started that business and nothing would please him but it was always at night. I read that book in a day (desperate I was) and started using the techniques... amazing.

Mr. Harrison is just precious! I'll come over next week and snuggle and spoil while you nap! Have a great Thanksgiving!
