This summer there has been a lot of work done on my classroom at school. They redid the roof, replaced the AC, and have replaced the carpet. I am happy to have all of those wonderful improvements, but the time schedule has strained my plan-ahead, be ready way of working. I was overwhelmed at the amount of dust on everything. I had bookshelves and filing cabinets to put back in place. Basically, everything was a big mess.
That said, my husband went to the school with me on Friday and helped move the filing cabinets and big bookshelf back and got down all the heavy boxes from the high places. And today my parents came. Mom dusted the bookshelves - meaning that she took the books off the shelves and dusted the whole thing. Dad helped me move the the other stuff back to where it belonged and cleaned the desks and chairs. I was able to get all those boxes emptied and some order restored. And if you know me at all, you know I love order. It is as the world should be.
So Thank You, Thank You, Thank You to my parents for their hard work today. We did a lot of work but the results were visible (which is always the best kind). My classroom may not be August 19th ready, but we are so much closer. Give me two more hours and I could welcome students. That is more than amazing if you could have seen the mess it was a few hours back. Yea for Mom and Dad!
