Tomorrow I begin my 14th year of teaching. I will have been in the Alma School District longer than I was in the Dardanelle school system. I have seen 13 senior classes graduate. I have seen one class go all the way from kindergarten to graduation. I have been doing this longer than a lot of people stay married. Just a little something I have been thinking about.
My baby girl starts the 2nd grade tomorrow. It is the beginning of her final year in the Primary school. Next year we will to transition to the Intermediate school. I can't even think about that. She is going to have 2 teachers this year. She is going to begin piano lessons. She washed the dishes last night. She now unloads the dishwasher as part of her chores. She is growing up.
My baby boy will be 9 months old this week. He pulls up all the time now. He is trying to let go of stuff and stand alone. Every day, it seems, that time that he stands unassisted gets longer. He feeds himself baby puffs. He can hold his cup and drink out of it (not that he does it often, but he can). He has two teeth but still hates any sort of textured food. We are working on it, though. He is growing too fast.
So my summer was short. My babies are growing more and more independent. Which is what is supposed to happen, I know. But do I have to like it? Can you imagine what they'll be doing in a year?!
Here are a couple of pictures of Harrison playing with the riding toy we got down from the attic. He enjoys being pushed around by sister, who is more than happy to do it - right now.
