Happy Father's Day

In thinking of Father's Day this year, I feel compelled to start at the top: The essence of God the Father. What kind of father is he? He is the kind of Father who loves his children so much that his heart breaks over us. He loves us so much that when we do something wrong, He is willing to discipline us to show us right and wrong and to bring reconciliation. He shows infinite amounts of mercy and grace. He doesn't lose his temper with us. He holds no record of our wrongs. He is the picture of fatherly love.

I have a wonderful earthly father. God graciously supplied me and my sisters with a man who continuously showed us love. He was fair, giving, and involved. My dad is still all those things to us, but now we get to see him on a new level. That of grandfather. He loves our babies so much. Yes, he spoils them. But in the end, they know their Papa would do anything in the world for them. Just like we three girls knew. So, Dad, I hope you have a wonderful, beautiful Father's Day. Know that - even in absence - my heart is with you.Because of the great example I have in my own father, my husband had some pretty high standards to live up to. And almost everyday, he does. I hope you all know that I love my husband more than words can ever express. And there are so many reasons for that, but in the last 7 1/2 years his ability to be an amazing father has jumped to top of the list. My children are blessed beyond measure with a daddy who snuggles them, plays with them, disciplines them, and spends quality time with them. He isn't perfect, but my children know that they are the light of his world. And because of that, he is the light of mine.
