Segregation

Since Christmas, Jillian's class has been learning quite a bit about Martin Luther King, Jr. She has learned about segregation and what that means.

Jillian has PE on Wednesdays, and I always ask what they did in PE. She said today they had done stations. She explained that she was with this one boy who had "judged" her because she was having a hard time getting a basket. Then she said she never wanted to be with that particular boy and his friends again because they didn't let the others do anything.

So she exclaims, "It is like segregation! They were the white people and we were like the black people because they wouldn't let us play basketball." Now I understand you may read this and think that Jillian has got a good understanding of segregation or maybe that she is taking it too lightly. But if you could have heard the tone of her voice, you would know that this was hilarious! Oh, the drama!
