It Has Been a Big Day

Some days are just big.  Today qualifies as such a day.  Jillian competed in her very first science fair. She chose to do her project on bridge design and how much weight/pressure different designs could hold. She and Nathan spent quite in a bit of time building bridges to only have them destroyed in a matter of minutes. She put her board together all by herself (with the insights of her teacher), and today she placed 2nd in her division for the 6th grade. She will go to the regional contest in March. I am sure there will be more work to do between now and then - but someone else will have to tell me what.  Science fair is definitely not my thing.
And tonight was our very first band concert. Jillian is playing percussion, and she is just loving it. They played four Christmas songs, and she played the tambourine in one song, the snare drum in two, and the xylophone in one.  The band did very well knowing they are all 6th graders and have been playing for only a short time.

On top of those things, I had my big formal observation - the one that is only done once every few years.  It went fine. I didn't dazzle, but I will stay employed ;).  It is always nerve-racking to have someone watching your every move and documenting what you say and do and how you do and say it.  But I survived.  And I won't have to do again for a long while.  So sis and I had a big day, but now it is over.  We are 8 days away from Christmas break. 9 days away from some little (not really so little anymore) person's 12th birthday.  Yippee!
