I went to Jillian's 3rd grade awards assembly on Tuesday. My girl was the only student in her school (3rd-5th grade) to read over 3 million words. They handed out the 1 and 2 million word reader awards and then announced that one person had done even more. When the assistant principal said that one student had read 3 million words and then called her name, Jillian got a huge cheer. I cried. She set a goal, worked hard, and achieved the goal.
Then she got recognized for having all As all year long.
She had two precious teachers. I have adored them. We have had a stress-free year, and most of that is because of these phenomenal women. Jillian is a better student and person because of them. I just pray we can have that kind of year next year.
I also got a little something this week. Our school district has a district wide service where they honor those retiring and those who have taught in the district for a several years. They start recognizing at the 10 year mark and then go by 5s from there on out. I received my 15 year pin yesterday. Aren't I too young to have worked for 15 years? I had a ornery student tell me today that I must of started when I was 3. Ha!
It has been a good week and a good school year. I have a few more hours, and then we can call it finished. I am looking forward to some rest, getting a potty trained boy, and some relaxation. That middle one and the last one seem to contradict each other. Hopefully we can get the potty training done and then I can relax. Pray for us!
