And the Year was 2000

The year 2000 was a big one.    Nathan and I got married.   And there were babies.   Not our babies, of course, but they might as well have been.   These babies are now turning 12 (gasp, how did this happen?)   Let me tell you this little story.   One of these babies was unexpected.   The other was long waited for.   One was a boy.  The other a girl.   One liked to be snuggled and held close.  The other wanted to lay all stretched out.   They were born 8 days apart and in different states.   And their Aunt Erin was giddy about these two - and she still is.

Me and Jared James.   He turned 12 yesterday.   He really did love his Aunt Erin a bunch.   I am not that special anymore, but I have moved back up in the ranks because when I come, I bring Harrison.   And Jared loves Harrison.
Me and my girl, Abby.   She turns 12 next week.   She had the biggest eyes and made the funniest faces - even as a newborn.   She is becoming a young woman - full of beauty and grace.

As you can imagine since they were the first grandchildren, there are a million photos of them together.   I love this one, though, because they look they are just trying to figure out the other.
One of my all-time favorite pictures - Nathan and Jared.   I am not going lie.   There are times when I wish these babies were still that, babies.   But I do love the conversations and the relationship you get to have when they are older.
Happy Birthday, babies!   I love you so much.

A beautiful story of the first two of the eight wonderful grandchildren we were blessed with. They are all precious to us. A very well written blog by the best middle daughter a dad can have. Love, Papa
