July Happenings

Our family loves to swim and play but having a 1 1/2 year old stymies that a lot with his long nap in the afternoon.   Last Friday we decided he could modify for one day.     We drove up to Lake Fort Smith (we have a very nice water park here in Alma but it is always so crowded) to spend a little time.    We swam and played and then hit this little area right before it was time to head home.

Then on Sunday we met my parents and sister for lunch and handed over my babies for the week.   I just cannot tell you how much I hate doing that - I know they have fun, but I hate being away from them.   I had to attend a conference in Tulsa, so off to Nanny's they went.

The conference went well.   It was an AP Summer Institute.   I am required to attend one at least every 5 years, and this was my year five.   I actually like these conferences a lot and get more out of them than any other professional development, but it means a week away from home, so I don't do it often.   I did come home with all kinds of lessons, activities, and ideas.  I also came home thrilled to work with the people I work with and at the school I get to call home.   I do intend on thanking my principal at the first opportunity I have and tell him how much I appreciate him, his expectations, and how he operates our building.   I have definitely come home with a renewed sense (and I have always thought the world of my boss) of what a blessing it has been to have worked for this guy for the last 14 years.

I have 25 days until I have to report back.   I have accomplished one thing on my list and am more prepared to complete others.   We have some appointments to attend to this week and there is always that looming fear of jury duty!   So I am thinking that the week of July 23rd is my "Get It Done!" week.   We shall see.

Sounds like a great conference. I know it was hard to hand over the little ones. Your parents are awesome though! I bet the kiddos had a great time.
