The End, 2014

Jillian is one day away from completing the 4th grade.  How did this happen?  Seriously, I don't understand. Last week I went to the 4th grade awards and got to see my girl get a couple of accolades.
She received the 5 million word reader award.   Last year she read over 3 million words and was the only student in the school to read that much.  This year a 5th grader had read over 6 million, so she finished in the top 2 of the school.   She had set a personal goal to read 4 million words this year, and she surpassed that.   This is something she does completely on her own.  She loves to read and she sets the goals.  We encouraged her some at the end when it looked like she might hit that 5 million word mark, but we didn't push her.   She just loves to read.

She also got recognized for having all As.  She is standing next to one of best friends (and one of the sweetest girls I have ever been around), Janessa.
Jillian has (once again) had a year of many transitions.   Since she started school she has gone 3 out of the 5 years with some sort of teacher transition during the year.   This year her two main teachers had babies and her GT teacher retired after Christmas.  These two lovely ladies below were her long-term subs.
And the picture above is some of her friends.  She has developed some very strong friendships this year, and that has been good for her.

So proud of our girl for another great school year.  We start swimming next week, so she can set some goals there, too.   She is more than ready to hit the water.
