January 24th

Today is my father-in-law's birthday. We all got together last night and ate dinner at the Catfish Hole. Then everyone came here for cake and ice cream and a little Wii playing. All of us were able to be here - a first in what seems like a really long time - so we took a family picture. Quite a crew!
Harry is a man of quiet strength who loves his family and puts them first. He cares so much about all of us, and he shows that in so many ways. It was an honor to celebrate him.
But today also marks a sad day for me. It was 5 years ago today that my Pap died. He was also a man of quiet strength and wisdom. His generosity was overwhelming and his love for us pretty indescribable. I still miss him and wish that he could see the beautiful girl my Jillian has become. He always kissed my dimple, and I sometimes find myself offering that side of my face to someone who is going to kiss my cheek.
Thank you, Lord, for the gift of these two men in our lives!

I thought about Pap all day yesterday. I will always miss him. I am so lucky to have had a dad like him.
